There are plenty of rental communities that offer short term leases. When signing a shorter lease, be prepared to pay a higher premium. This is due to the fact that it is harder for the apartment complex to fill your empty apartment for another 3 or 6 months when you are gone, but will likely be cheaper for you than signing a full 12 month lease, and continuing to pay for months you won't be living in an apartment. Be sure to ask for the premium prices, as they will vary by community.
