What is there to do around USF?

Living in apartments near USF can be quite advantageous when looking for things to do in order to keep you busy. From shopping, to golf, museums and theme parks the USF region is compacted with a variety of different activities to engage in.

USF apartments are located just outside of Tampa's center. Aside from being walking distance of a short-drive to campus, many of these homes are conveniently located next to handfuls of entertainment.

Are you adventurous? Just across the street are two of Tampa's infamous theme parks- Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. Enjoy a day riding your favorite roller coaster, taking a safari in Busch Garden's exotic animal retreats or relax in Adventure's lazy river. Although these parks may be busier in the summer, the winter months allow residents to jump on a ride wait free.

Are you on a budget? Being a college student does not always provide extra time to take up employment. However, there are plenty of things to do with smaller wallets. Just next door to the University of South Florida is the Museum of Science and Industry. MOSI's interactive exhibits are offered to USF students for a small discount. Many students living in apartments near USF tend to enjoy Lettuce Lake Park, located just behind the school. Lettuce Lake provides picnic tables, sheltered spaces and nature trails where you can bike, jog or walk at no cost to you!

There are several restaurants and bars surrounding the campus. Favorite hangouts include Bulls Club, Chilis and the campus Beef O' Brady's. Just a few minutes away from campus you will find popular college watering holes such as Peabody's and Linksters.

If you love to play golf, The Claw Golf Course sits just next door to the school. Here, many students enjoy hitting balls at the driving range or playing an 18-hole round of golf. The Claw is one of Tampa's most challenging courses and is filled with Cypress trees and mystic oaks. Additionally, the school supplies several soccer fields where many take up intermural sports as a hobby.

Shopping plazas surround the bay area and the USF community is no exception. Just next door to campus is the University Square Mall. This mall includes popular stores such as JC Penny, Dillard's and Old Navy. However, Wiregrass Mall and International Mall are both less than a fifteen minute drive from USF apartments. These malls, both popular happy hour locations, are filled with favorite stores such as Forever 21, H&M, and Hollister.

Fortunately, the beaches are also just around the corner from the South Florida campus. In less than twenty minutes, students have access to several different beaches including St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach.

There are plenty of things to do just near the University from shopping to beaches, it is rare that you will find yourself sitting at home.
